The Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia and the community of the Holy Apostles Senior Seminary (HASS) welcome the gift of a new deacon to serve the Church overseas.
On February 3, 2021, the Memorial of Saint Blaise, bishop and martyr, Reverend Rodel De Ocampo Aclan was ordained to the sacred order of deacons by Most Reverend Roberto O. Gaa, D.D., Bishop of Novaliches on behalf of His Lordship, Paul Hinder, D.D., OFMCap, Apostolic Administrator of the vicariate.
Being ordained means “death to our own will in favor of God’s will—a will that desires what is best for us; a will that manifests His love for us and his people” said Bishop Gaa, Reverend Rodel’s former seminary rector.
In his message, Rev. Rodel gratefully remembered the late Bishop Camillo Ballin, D.D., MCCJ, former Apostolic Vicar of Northern Arabia who welcomed him to the vicariate and visited him in the seminary twice before the prelate succumbed to cancer in 2020.
A graduate of Accountancy, Reverend Rodel worked in Kuwait for six years. In 2014 at age 32, he returned to the Philippines to enter Holy Apostles Senior Seminary. In this year of Missio Ad Gentes, he was ordained to go back to Northern Arabia with a mission to bring the Good News as a resident deacon in Qatar, his first assignment.
